In September 2006 the Palatti Group organized the residency project Out of Foreign Focus in Prishtina. During one month the artists Anna Bas Backer, Eline Jongsma, Aurelio Kopainig, Kelly O’Neill, Sara Pape Garcia, Betty Ras created an exhibition at the Kosovarian gallery Hani i 2 Robertëve. In the weeks leading up to the exhibition the artists explored the city, and made trips around the different parts of the country. Among places visited were the divided city Mitrovice, the Kishnice mines, and the army base Camp Bondsteel. The different artists were each impacted in very different ways and worked with photos, drawings and installation. Kelly O’Neill made a short film, in which he documented the group’s working process and interviewed a number a local people.

The exhibition “Palatti Kosova Berlin”, is presented in Berlin, several weeks after “Out of Foreign Focus”. The exhibition shows new works made by Anna Bas Backer, Aurelio Kopainig and Betty Ras after their return from Kosova and offer a new view on the project. The exhibition also shows a small selection of works that were previously exhibited in Prishtina. The Palatti Group creates the work for their exhibitions on location by travelling to the site to gather information, inspiration and get to know people. Hereby the group aims to make unique exhibitions which remain close to their subject matter. The period that the artists work together in a foreign location, intensifies the relationship between the art works. Out of Foreign Focus is Palatti Group’s 3rd project to date. In 2005 they invited artists to Berlin to make the exhibition, “The Nature of Intervention”, and likewise in 2005 they travelled to Sanlucar de Barrameda in Spain, where they created the exhibition, “Nostalgia Constructiva”. (Not all the same artists took part in the respective exhibitions.)
